I lived with my dad for 5 years while attending law school and starting my career. Now that I've moved out, I miss it.

My dad's generosity helped me save money while I was in school.

KimberMarie Faircloth I lived at home for five years while attending law school and kicking off my legal career .

Now that I've moved out, my social life has been great, but I miss living with my dad.

I wish I hadn't put so much pressure on myself to move out and live on my own.

Back in 2018, I was finishing my final year of college.

It had been far from the best chapter of my life, so I did everything I could to graduate a semester early .

I abandoned my plans to apply for a Fulbright scholarship and moved in with my parents temporarily.

Now that I look back on it, I realize that my horrible college experience — and decision to return home — was a blessing in disguise.

During that final semester, my family learned that my mom was very sick.

We got the news in September, then lost her seven months later.

Had I not moved back during that last semester, I might have had less time with my mom.

Around the time of her passing, I tried moving into my own place, convinced I needed to be a "real adult" and have my own space — but I ended up moving back in with my dad in a matter of months.

Bills were tight as I was working as a temp at a law office while trying to find my first full-time job.

And frankly, I didn't want to be alone.
