Apple cuts dozens of employees from Vision Pro team, report says

Apple's first foray into computerized headsets has not gone particularly well.

The latest evidence of that comes courtesy of AppleInsider , which reported this week that Apple has cut at least 60 workers from its Apple Vision Group, which worked on the Vision Pro headset.

This move came just a couple of weeks before longtime CEO Tim Cook is set to hand the reins over to John Ternus , though it's not clear at the time of publication who exactly ordered these cuts.

Apple hasn't given us official sales numbers for the Vision Pro headset, but recent reports suggest the device has not done especially well for itself.

It's pretty easy to surmise any number of reasons for that, especially the $3,500 price tag at launch, which recently went up to $3,700 as part of widespread Apple price increases caused by RAMageddon .

As AppleInsider pointed out, the work the Vision team has done isn't for nothing, as Apple reportedly plans to launch some kind of smart glasses in 2027.

In addition, iOS 27 features such as spatial reframing have been credited to Apple's spatial computing and visual intelligence technology, which was developed for the Vision Pro.

But that will likely be cold comfort for any of the 60-plus people who just lost their sources of income.
