Coastal Carolina's 90s-themed throwback football jerseys leave fans on the internet divided

I've said this many times before, but one of my favorite things about college football are the myriad uniform combinations and unique concepts that programs come up with.

Even just this past weekend, plenty of teams unveiled some absolutely gorgeous uniforms, including the Florida Gators in their 60s throwbacks and the Utah Utes with their "icy" helmets.

Even some of the most traditional powers that the sport has to offer have busted out some new uniform combinations to get their fans excited (think Georgia's all-white threads and matching white helmet).

One need only look at their home field, which is painted in their signature teal color scheme, to see that this is a football team that is willing to push the boundaries of fashion.

And when I say "90s throwbacks," I'm not referring to jerseys the team wore 30 years ago.

I mean these uniforms are literally 90s themed.

Take a look.

First of all, a special shout out should go to whomever came up with the Coastal Carolina branded Game Boy Color.

If you're of a certain age (likely between 29-45), these jersey's tugged at your nostalgic heartstrings and harkened back to a time when life was simpler.

The description from the official press release regarding the uniforms on Coastal Carolina's athletics website says it best.

"The uniforms draw from the colorful, oversized and unmistakably '90s aesthetic seen in iconic television shows such as 'Saved By The Bell,' 'Boy Meets World,' 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,' 'Friends,' and many more." Yeah, you guys pretty much nailed it.

Now, while I love being reminded of my youth, some football fans are a little less enthusiastic about their team taking the field looking like an advertisement for an after-school cartoon programming block.
