‘Point Break’ Series Surfs to Green Light at AMC
AMC and sibling streamer AMC+ have greenlit a series based on Point Break , the 1991 surfing-and-bank-robbing action thriller directed by Kathryn Bigelow and starring Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves. Alcon Television Group is the lead studio on the show, with AMC Studios and StudioCanal as co-producers. (Alcon owns rights to Point Break and produced a 2015 movie remake.)
Dave Kalstein ( NCIS: Los Angeles, Treadstone ) and Christopher C. Rogers ( Sugar , AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire ) will be co-showrunners on the series, which is set in the same world as the original film. The series will air on AMC and stream on AMC+ in the U.S. and Canada, with StudioCanal handling worldwide sales. Production is set to begin in early 2027; no casting has been announced yet.
