Oklahoma State stuns Oregon, deals early season blow to Ducks' national title hopes

Oregon’s winning streak came to an abrupt end Saturday, with Oklahoma State pulling off the first major upset of the season in a 39-31 victory.

The result snapped the Cowboys' 21-game skid against FBS opponents and gave first-year Oklahoma State coach Eric Morris his first win with the program.

It also ended Oregon’s 41-game winning streak against unranked opponents.

The breakthrough sparked a memorable celebration in Stillwater, especially after Oklahoma State went 1-11 last season and opened this year with a 24-10 loss to Tulsa.

Mestemaker, who played for Morris last season at North Texas, bounced back from a poor performance in the opener.

His 10-yard TD run early in the fourth quarter gave the Cowboys the lead for good.
