JAŸ-Z ‘s eight-part docuseries, in which he’s interviewed by Rick Rubin , has a release date and a new trailer.
The first two episodes of JAŸ-Z in 8 are set to premiere Friday, Sept.
18, at 8 p.m. on HBO Max and will feature the rapper-turned-business magnate talking about his life and breaking down his writing process on select cuts from eight of his projects with Rubin, the co-founder of Def Jam.

Carter , The Dynasty: Roc La Familia , The Blueprint , The Black Album , American Gangster , Watch the Throne and 4:44 will be highlighted in each episode.
Songs ranging from “Can’t Knock the Hustle” and “What More Can I Say” to “Meet the Parents’ and “The Story of O.J.” will be discussed and dissected by the two music legends.
Not only will Rubin be playing host and interviewer; he’s also credited as an executive producer alongside JAŸ and will be making his directorial documentary debut.
The show’s synopsis reads as follows: “30 years after his landmark debut album Reasonable Doubt , artist, icon, philanthropist, entrepreneur JAŸ-Z sits down with longtime friend, producer, and director Rick Rubin for an intimate reflection on his storied career, revisiting the music together and unpacking his work and life through a shared listening and illuminating conversation.
Featuring many of JAŸ-Z’s iconic tracks and album cuts, including “99 Problems,” “Brooklyn’s Finest,” and “4:44,” the eight-episode series offers a deeply revealing portrait of the artist and his work, exploring the influences and inspiration that shaped both the man and his music.” HBO Max Two new episodes will debut weekly on Fridays, concluding with episodes 7 and 8 on Oct.
