Hilary Strong Steps Down as CEO of John Gore Studios

London-based film and TV studio John Gore Studios , which is behind the likes of the Toronto-bound Onwards and Sideways , with Laura Linney and Rhys Ifans starring as two people being diagnosed with Parkinson’s, said on Tuesday that Hilary Strong is stepping down as CEO and that it will reorganize.

The firm will be “joining forces with its U.S.-based sister company, The John Gore Organization, under the common control of a single holding company,” it said. “This will facilitate coordination between the companies and will bring their respective film, television and theatrical businesses under a common strategic vision that will enable them to reach an even broader audience on screens and stages worldwide.” Each of the companies will be under the executive leadership of owner and founder Gore. British-born Gore, a two-time Emmy and Olivier award winner, has served as executive chairman of John Gore Studios, with Strong, whose previous roles included chief at Agatha Christie Ltd. and commercial director at Hat Trick Productions, as CEO.

Said Gore: “Hilary and the team took the business from zero to seven feature films in 18 months, which must be a record – all the while burnishing the legacy of Hammer Films and expanding into new technologies and complementary businesses to pave a path for the future. I am extremely grateful to Hilary for the significant role she has played in the launch of John Gore Studios and excited about this next chapter.” Strong served as an executive producer on each of the first six feature films developed during her tenure. “I have adored my time working with John and the wonderful team we have put together to create John Gore Studios, and I will always be grateful to John for the opportunity, but we have both agreed that, with the reshaping of the global business, my work here is done,” she said.
