Yes, the Defenders Are Returning for ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3

This should have been the big reveal. Thursday at New York Comic Con, Marvel Television presented new footage from the upcoming third and final season of Daredevil: Born Again and had a mini-reunion on stage . Charlie Cox himself was joined by Finn Jones and Krysten Ritter who together, along with Mike Colter, would mark the return of The Defenders .

The problem was everyone already knew that was happening because set photos leaked during production .

Nevertheless, Cox, Jones, and Ritter together again (Colter wasn’t there, potentially shooting his new CBS series) confirmed a storyline teased during the previous season of the show. During Born Again season two, Matt Murdock (Cox) reunited with Jessica Jones (Ritter) to help take down the Kingpin. Once that was done, we learned that Luke Cage (Colter) was with Jones and they had a child together, Danielle.

So, clearly, those three characters would all be returning for the next season. Iron Fist (Jones) was a bigger question mark but, in the end, it would have been insanely mean-spirited to not bring him back or ignore him. And so, whenever the show comes back, Netflix’s version of the Avengers, the Defenders, will return: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.

It’s something fans never thought would be possible. After several years of Netflix doing mostly well-regarded, street-level Marvel shows, it followed Marvel’s tradition and brought them all together with the 2017 series The Defenders . However, in 2019 , those shows were canceled and, in the wake of Avengers: Endgame, surely all hope was lost.

But, then, in 2021, Cox appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home . Soon after, he got another show, Daredevil: Born Again , and now, in season three of that series, the gang is all back together. News that was probably originally going to be broken at New York Comic Con ahead of Born Again season three. But, now, at least we know it’s officially official.

No word on when Daredevil: Born Again season three will debut, but we’d imagine it’s sometime in 2027.
