Diamonds are TikTok Shops best friend

Diamonds are TikTok Shops best friend

TikTok Shop has already convinced users to buy everything from pickle kits to questionable supplements.

Its latest obsession is considerably shinier.

Livestream auctions for loose, lab-grown diamonds are suddenly everywhere on the app, turning stones that once required an intimidating trip to a jeweler into something users can buy from bed in about 15 seconds.

The streams, largely produced by lab-grown diamond company Royale Diamonds , feel like QVC after several espressos.

An auctioneer holds a stone beneath bright lights, briefly flashes its specifications or grading report, and starts a countdown that may last only 10 to 30 seconds.

Bids fly across the screen while the host urges viewers to keep tapping.

Then the clock runs out, a winner is announced, and the next diamond appears before anyone has time to reconsider what just happened.

Naturally, people are getting hooked.

Users across TikTok are showing off their auction finds, comparing collections , planning custom jewelry, and admitting that they keep returning to the streams, finding themselves "addicted," despite having no particular need for another loose gemstone.

In recent weeks, buyers have begun comparing notes about how they stumbled into the diamond-auction rabbit hole — and how quickly one purchase became five , 10, or several dozen.

TikTok creator Ryan Roth is one of them.

After accidentally winning his first lab-grown diamond for $700, he bought another for $94 while scrolling in an Uber and soon had roughly 10 more stones on the way.
