Dolly Parton Biopic, Docuseries and Scripted Series Among Planned Projects Before Death

After announcing that Dolly Parton died on Tuesday at the age of 80, Parton‘s team is now giving insight into the projects the icon had in development that they will continue to make happen.

“Dolly worked up until the day she died. She loved seeing her dreams come to life, and loved knowing her work brought people joy. Ever the planner, Dolly worked with the team that she handpicked, for the past several years to build a project roadmap that will guide us for decades to come,” Parton‘s her longtime manager Danny Nozell said in a statement. “As the leader of the team responsible for overseeing her legacy, we will ensure the many dreams she had yet to fulfill are brought to life. Many projects were in various stages of development, and we want to be transparent with her fans about this fact. If you see unreleased music, products, books, experiences, and campaigns launched through official Dolly Parton channels, you can have confidence in knowing that she placed her personal stamp on it,“ he added.

Projects in the pipeline include a Dolly avatar show, a Dolly Musical documentary, a Dolly biopic, a Dolly docuseries, a Dolly scripted series, a Billy The Kid animated series and more to be revealed at a later date.

Other active projects with release dates for this year include: Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stops (celebrating National Truck Driver Appreciation Week beginning Sept. 13, 2026); Dolly Parton’s SongTeller Hotel (stays begin Sept. 14, 2026; grand opening Sept. 29, 2026); Dolly Dolls (launching online Sept. 15, 2026); Dolly’s Life Of Many Colors Museum (grand opening Sept. 29, 2026); Dolly’s Cup Of Ambition Coffee (launching online Sept. 29, 2026; retail launch spring 2027) and Dolly On The Holly (coming holiday 2026).

Meanwhile, previews for DOLLY: A True Original Musical On Broadway begin Dec. 7, 2026 with opening night on Jan. 19, 2027. (Tickets are currently on-sale through Nov. 21, 2027). Next year, there will also be a Kendra Scott x Dolly – The 9 to 5 Collection, launching January 2027; Dolly’s Dog Treats (coming early 2027) and Dolly Bedding & Home Decor (coming Q3 2027).

Parton died peacefully after a “brief battle with cancer” at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, a rep announced Tuesday. She was admitted to the hospital on Friday after dealing with kidney and autoimmune issues.

One of her nephews, Bryan Seaver, recorded a video at her request to release after her death.

“This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago, before I fully absorbed it as a future reality,” he said. “As her head of security for more than two decades, a role my father Larry held before me, I have imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven’t truly felt it until now.”
