Meta memo reveals what its new 'Hatch' AI agent can do, from booking a restaurant to finding a dog sitter

CEO Mark Zuckerberg says Meta is building "personal superintelligence for everyone." Bloomberg/Getty Images Meta said its coming Hatch AI agent "can do anything you can do online." Meta has been testing Hatch with employees, per an internal memo.

Hatch can "remember more than most AIs," the memo said.

It can DJ.

It can order food.

It can book you a table at a restaurant.

And of course, it can access your Instagram.

These are some things Meta says its coming AI agent can do, according to an internal memo seen by Business Insider.

Known internally as "Project Hatch," the new agent is Meta's answer to OpenClaw , the autonomous AI assistant that went viral earlier this year as companies increasingly bet on AI capable of performing tasks rather than just answering queries.

A product manager told staff in an internal channel last month that Hatch was being made available to employees outside its Meta Superintelligence Labs group for testing.

The memo described Hatch as "a personal agent that's always working on your behalf to help achieve your goals and improve your life, your health, your relationships, your personal finances and more." The memo to staff included a list of things Hatch could do.

"It has its own computer so it can do anything you can do online, like filling out forms, buying something, or performing deep research," it said, in a section titled "What makes Project Hatch different from an AI assistant?" Meta is positioning Hatch as a general consumer product capable of performing a range of computer-based tasks, at a time when generalist agents are taking off.

Google launched a similar tool, Gemini Spark , earlier this year, while OpenAI and Anthropic also have agents capable of controlling users' computers .

A new AI assistant from the startup Instinct, which users can call or text, has also generated buzz in recent weeks.

Hatch could become a new way for Meta to make money from its AI investments.
