‘The Pitt’ Wins Outstanding Drama Series at 78th Emmy Awards
The Pitt won Outstanding Drama Series at the 78th Emmy Awards on Monday. Showrunner R. Scott Gemmill accepted the award for the show with about two dozen cast members behind him.
During his speech, Gemmill paid tribute to the “real-life heroes” in the emergency department. “We just want to shine a light on them,” he said. “Yes, their stories can be frustrating and heartbreaking, but they also can be so inspirational and healing.”
He also spoke to the power of what he believes is authentic storytelling in a time when people are doubting the news. “It is so hard to tell what is real and what we can believe anymore, which makes telling honest stories about real human struggles so much more important than ever,” he said. “What you do, it changes people’s lives.”
The Pitt was nominated against The Diplomat , Paradise , Pluribus , Slow Horses , Your Friends & Neighbors , The Gilded Age , and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms . The Pitt also took home the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series last year.
