IFA 2026 Is About to Show What the AI-Powered Future Actually Looks Like, and It’s Landing in Berlin

For years, the language around consumer technology events leaned on the same word: someday. Someday AI will manage your home. Someday your watch will know your health better than your doctor does. Someday robotics will look less like a factory floor and more like a living room. IFA 2026, running September 4-8 in Berlin , is treating someday as a closed chapter. The technology that filled those promises is already in people’s pockets, homes, and daily routines, and IFA’s job this year is to show what that actually looks like in practice.

“The future is not waiting somewhere five or ten years away,” says Leif Lindner, CEO of IFA Management. “It is already in our homes, in our pockets, in our cars, in our health routines.” That framing shapes the show’s editorial direction for 2026. AI has stopped being its own product category with its own floor space and started threading through everything else instead. Smart home devices, health monitors, wearables, fitness equipment, and beauty tech all carry AI now, and IFA is where the full spread of that integration shows up under one roof. Lindner puts it plainly: “It is not one category anymore. It is becoming part of almost every category.”

The health and wellness segment is worth particular attention heading into the show. Digital health, preventive wellness tools, connected fitness, and beauty devices are among IFA’s fastest-growing categories for 2026, which tracks with what consumer buying patterns have been signaling for the last two years. The appetite for technology that monitors, personalizes, and actively supports health rather than just tracking steps has pulled a significant share of the market toward this category, and Berlin is where the hardware response to that demand comes together.

IFA’s reach makes it a genuine global bellwether, not a regional trade event. Last year’s IFA drew more than 1,900 exhibitors from 49 countries, over 220,000 visitors from 140-plus countries, and a global media reach exceeding 301 billion. That audience mix of global CEOs, retailers, startup founders, content creators, and consumers all sharing the same floor is genuinely unusual for a show at this scale. “It is one of the few places where a global CEO, a retailer, a startup founder, a content creator, a journalist and a consumer can all experience innovation at the same time,” Lindner says.

IFA is also expanding beyond the Messe Berlin exhibition center this year. The Sommergarten open-air venue returns with a confirmed evening lineup: BUNT’s electronic set on September 3, Luciano on September 4, Ikkimel & Friends on September 5, and live podcast recordings from Mord auf Ex and Wine Wednesday on September 6. The ICC Berlin, a landmark building from 1979 that has been closed to the public for more than a decade, reopens as part of the show, giving the event a cultural footprint well beyond the exhibit floor.
