With the exception of a rare desperate moment when I don’t have time to wash my hair, I usually steer clear of dry shampoos.
Most of the formulas I’ve tried left my tresses smelling like a floral fragrance gone rancid and my already-dehydrated strands extra crispy.
The worst part is that most of the dry shampoos I’ve used in the past leave a powdery white cast on my dark brown, highlighted hair.
For context, I’m one of those people who need to wash their hair every day.
Yes, I’ve heard all the arguments against washing your hair daily, but with my ultra-fine hair and flaky scalp (thanks, eczema!), daily cleansing feels like a non-negotiable.
If I wash my hair in the morning, I start to feel the oiliness in the late afternoon.
Of course, washing my hair every single day is a big time commitment, and sometimes I need a quick fix.
Don’t get me wrong, there are a few decent dry shampoos out there, like Colab’s Dark Corrector Dry Shampoo , which also doesn’t leave a white cast and doesn’t have a strong fragrance.
Absorbing oil from my especially greasy hair? It could be better.
I’d just about given up by the time Living Proof, the haircare brand that Jennifer Aniston co-owned from 2012 to 2016, launched its innovative Sheer Clean Dry Shampoo Mist this month.
Naturally, as a beauty writer who absolutely loves testing as many products as possible, I gave it a shot.
Admittedly, I didn’t have high hopes.
