Mon Laferte Gives New Meaning to ‘La Perla’ in Rosalía’s Confessional: ‘Could It Be That I’m the Pearl?’

Rosalía played her second of five nights at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City on Monday (Aug.

24) as part of her LUX Tour.

During her appearance, Laferte recalled moments when she had been deceived by ex-partners and been a victim of lies and betrayal, as she explained.

She shared that she has often been called “intense” or “dramatic,” to which Rosalía replied that she is merely driven by “passion.” Laferte — currently on tour herself with her album Femme Fatale — mentioned that “no one knows how to love” like she does, reflecting on how she has dedicated songs, even entire albums, to relationships.

“I’ve loved deeply, many people, even several at the same time,” she added.

In Rosalía’s song “La Perla,” a “pearl” refers to a problematic or dishonest person who cannot be trusted.

“You say your only crime was loving,” Rosalía replied.

“But no, your only crime was dedicating songs that are way too good to men who are way too dumb,” the Motomami artist concluded.

Mon Laferte joined Kenia Os, who took to Rosalía’s famous “confessional” during the first night of her Palacio de los Deportes shows on Saturday (Aug.

22).

Previously, Yeri Mua and content creators its.michhh (Michel Álvarez) and Samy Rivers accompanied the Catalan singer during her performances in Guadalajara and Monterrey.

Rosalía will continue her series of shows in Mexico City on Aug.

26, 28 and 29.
