‘The Family Stone’ Sequel in the Works With Most of Original Cast Returning

The beloved comedy-drama The Family Stone will receive a sequel 20 years later, with many of its original stars — Rachel McAdams , Claire Danes , Sarah Jessica Parker , and more — set to return for The Families Stone .

Searchlight Pictures officially announced the sequel to the 2005 film — which has become a holiday classic over the past two decades — on Saturday, while also confirming that Family Stone co-stars Dermot Mulroney, Craig T. Nelson, Luke Wilson, Elizabeth Reaser, and Paul Schneider would reprise their roles, Variety reports .

“It’s a comedy with a dash of tragedy — the kind of thing that usually makes me puke,” Peter Travers wrote in his Rolling Stone review of the film in 2005. “But I fell for this one.”
