Fox News Host Fears GOP Lacking ‘Energy’ Heading Into Midterms

Fox News Fox News’ Lawrence Jones has questioned whether Republicans even have the “energy” to perform well in the midterm elections.

During Monday’s broadcast of Fox & Friends , Jones and the rest of the hosts began discussing The New York Times report on Jared Kushner’s secret meeting with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who is in line to become House speaker should Democrats retake the lower chamber in November.

Jones suggested it is a “coin flip” over who will win control of the House in the midterms before raising several concerns he has spotted within the GOP .

“I’m not saying the Republicans aren’t trying, but I don’t see the energy with the Republicans right now,” Jones said.

“And I just think they have a hard time explaining how we got into this mess when it comes to the Biden administration pumping all the money into the economy and inflation and the impact.” “They say the number one rule in politics is if you’re explaining, you’re losing, and they haven’t been able to make that case.” The GOP is widely expected to lose control of the House in the midterms as a result of intense backlash to President Donald Trump’s second term and his handling of the economy and inflation.

As Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade noted, the fact that Kushner privately met with Jeffries to reportedly try to find “common ground” suggests that even the president’s son-in-law expects the GOP to lose control of the House to the Democrats in November.

When fellow Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt asked Jones what he would like to see from Republicans ahead of the crucial nationwide elections, he replied that they need to be “honest” with the American people on issues such as the economy.

“Say, ‘Look, we haven’t gotten here as fast as we would want, but we were in the ditch, and things are going well as it relates to where we came from,’” Jones said.

“You think things are bad right now? Turn the keys over to the Democrats,” he added.

“It’s not enough just to say that they’re crazy—and I do agree, they are crazy, especially some of these candidates that are running—everything is going to be about the pocketbook in this election, though.” Read more at The Daily Beast.
