Conor Curley, the band’s guitarist, said in a statement that the sonic shift and new influences is the band “trying to find stuff that pointed into the future.” Lead single “Marianne,” the band said, was partly inspired by Netflix thriller series Ripley (2024) starring Adam Scott, an adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s novel The Talented Mr.
