Joe Budden Wants Drake to Go Directly at Jay-Z: ‘Bait Him, Let’s Have Some Fun’

Billboard ·

Joe Budden wants Drake to goad Jay-Z into a full-on rap battle.

During a recent Patreon exclusive episode of The Joe Budden Podcast , the gang was talking about the “fake tug-of-war” between the two rap giants, and Budden suggested that he would like to see them go directly at each other instead of having to hear them continue to send subliminals each other’s way.

“Hey, Drake … Bait him, let’s have some fun,” he said before referring to the rumors that Jay is working on new material.

“If the word is true, and hip-hop n—as gonna assume it’s true, that Jay-Z could be putting an album out, what that means in rapper brain is, he is available to rap,” he continued.

“That means that his brain is firing, in a way, right this second that I’m prepared for anything that n—as might want to do.” Budden added that beating Jigga in a battle would help change the current narrative around his pen game.

“If you want to get to talking tough about ‘the pen isn’t dry,’ take the bait,” Budden suggested.

“Jump out there.

Set it on that old n—a.

Fire on that old n—a, yo.

Fire on that senior citizen.

Nah, f— it, Kendrick and Drake was years ago, Now we need to turn it up a little more.

Get him out that cubbyhole.

Enough of that, ‘Wrong chart, champ.’ Who the f— do he think he talkin’ to, Aubrey?” Drake and Jay have sent shots at each other here and there over the years, but things heated up when the Toronto rapper dissed Jay on Iceman , with Jigga returning fire during his “Roots Picnic Freestyle.” It’s worth noting that Roc Nation recently denied the rumors surrounding a new Jay-Z album, calling it “fake news.” You can watch the clip below.
