Star Responds After Partner Snubbed Her Twice

Kevin Mazur / Kevin Mazur/Getty Images Keri Russell is setting the record straight about her longtime partner Matthew Rhys appearing to snub her in his Emmys acceptance speech.

The “Diplomat” star says she actually told him to leave her out.

“I looked at him like a few days before, and I said, ‘Okay, well, can you articulate what you’re most nervous about?’” the “Diplomat” star said on Thursday’s episode of Chelsea Handler’s Dear Chelsea podcast.

“And he’s like, ‘Yeah, having to speak.’ And I said, ‘Totally.’ And I said, ‘Take me off your plate.

Like, you don’t have to thank me.

I know you love me.’” Rhys won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his roles as Mayor Tom Loftis in Apple TV’s “Widow’s Bay” and as Nile Jarvis in Netflix’s “The Beast in Me.” The Welsh actor thanked castmates and crew, but some fans quickly noticed Russell’s name was conspicuously absent.

“I didn’t really prepare anything, which is why I vomited that speech,” Rhys told E! News afterward.

Russell, who has been nominated for eight Emmys, lost Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for “The Diplomat” to Rhea Seehorn of “Pluribus.” The couple has been together since meeting on “The Americans” in 2014.

They share a 10-year-old son.

Rhys also acts as a parent to Russell’s two older children, whom she shares with ex-husband Shane Deary.

Speaking about the pressure actors face to fit people into a short acceptance speech, Russell told Handler that Rhys had miffed some production members after he won an Emmy for his role in “The Americans” in 2014.

“People still give him a hard time because he didn’t say their name,” she said.

“Like, it’s so crazy.

People get nuts.
