Mariah Carey ‘Unironically’ Reissuing ‘Glitter’ Soundtrack for 25th Anniversary
Mariah Carey will mark the 25th anniversary of her Glitter soundtrack with its first-ever vinyl reissue as well as a digital edition stocked with unreleased recordings.
While Glitter the film, released theatrically in September 2001 and starring Carey, was met with harsh reviews and a lackluster box office — it didn’t help that the movie arrived soon after 9/11 —Carey’s soundtrack has become a fan favorite, even inspiring a #JusticeforGlitter campaign in 2018 to raise the soundtrack to Number One on the iTunes charts.
“If someone had told me back in 2001 that I’d one day be unironically celebrating Glitter ‘s 25 th anniversary, I never would have believed them,” Carey said of the reissue in a statement.
