Watch Luke Combs Make His Voice Acting Debut in Disney Series ‘Big City Greens’: ‘This Will Be Way Cooler in My Kids’ Eyes Than Anything Else I’ve Done’

Luke Combs has already made his mark as an award-winning singer, songwriter and entertainer.

Now, the country superstar is venturing into new territory on the small screen, making his voice acting debut in the Disney animated series Big City Greens .

But he’s not making too much of a stretch: Combs will voice the role of Rusty Twang, a country superstar.

As Twang, Combs also sings a new song, “Watch Out for the Greens.” Big City Greens follows a family as they adjust to big city life after moving from their small countryside town.

“Having three little boys at home who love Disney just made this an opportunity that was hard to pass up,” Combs tells Billboard via email.

“This will be way cooler in their eyes than anything else I’ve done.” Watch an exclusive clip of Combs performing as Rusty Twang on Big City Greens below: Though voice acting and singing as a character was something Combs said was “completely new to me that I had never done before,” he adds that “it helped that the character stayed pretty true to who I am in real life, so that made it feel familiar.

“Part of you wants to portray a different voice since you’re a TV show character, but it was helpful knowing this was someone who had never been a part of this world and I could just be myself and use my natural voice,” he continues of lending his unmistakable voice to the character of Rusty.

“Thankfully, I’ve had a lot of time inside studio booths where I’m singing to practically no one, which felt very similar to this.” Combs says he won’t rule out another shot at voice acting in the future — but it might depend on three very important reactions: “I’d be up to it for sure.

We’ll see what the kids think.

They may say I’m no good at it and need to stick to singing!” Combs’ appearance will be featured in the series’ season five premiere episode, “Daddy Ditty,” which airs Aug.

21.

In addition to Combs, other guests slated for season five include author Stephen King, and actors Dylan Sprouse, Chad Michael Murray and Megan Stalter.

The first five episodes of season five of Big City Greens all premiere Aug.

21 on Disney Channel at 8 p.m.
