My Chemical Romance Drop Blistering Unreleased Song From ‘The Black Parade’ 20th Anniversary Edition: Listen

It’s been more than sixteen years since My Chemical Romance dropped their fourth album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys , the 2010 release that, for now, served as their recorded swan song.

They’ve been on a two-year swing of dates around the world celebrating their most beloved album, 2006’s The Black Parade , and on Friday (Oct.

16) they surprised fans with the streaming debut of the blistering, previously unreleased song “Someone Out There Loves You (Live From Hoboken).” The track appears on the upcoming The Black Parade (20th Anniversary) expanded edition — due out on Oct.

23 — with the accompanying video (see below) capturing the emo rock legends in top form during a show at their 200-capacity hometown Hoboken, N.J. club Maxwell’s in 2007.

The reissue features the entire original album, which spun off the hit title track, “Welcome to the Black Parade,” the highest-charting single from the group to date, which hit No.

9 on the Billboard Hot 100 in September 2006.

It is one of six bonus tracks on the expanded edition, including two more live tracks from that Hoboken show, “Dead!” and “The Sharpest Lives,” which have not been released on LP, CD or streaming to date, as well as three fan-favorite B-sides that have previously been available as B-sides on older releases, “Heaven Help Us,” “Kill All Your Friends” and “My Way Home Is Through You.” “Twenty years ago, we wrote what would become The Black Parade , our third record and the follow-up to Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge ,” the band said in a statement.

“At the time, we could never have imagined what the record would mean for the band.

All we knew is that we had made something crazy, and something we couldn’t wait to get it out into the world… For the first time, we have included everything we finished during those sessions in a single collection.” “Someone Out There Loves You” is classic Black Parade -era MCR, featuring that album’s signature blend of punk/emo energy and pop songwriting chops and an urgent, yelping chorus on which singer Gerard Way wails, “And would you stay right here/ Then I’ll tell you/ That someone out there loves you/ If you stay right here/ Then I’ll tell you/ That someone out there loves you after all.” MCR will mount a grand finale for the U.S.
