Jalen Hurts to reportedly miss remainder of NFL season after blood clots found in quarterback's lungs
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is reportedly being shut down for the remainder of the NFL season after doctors discovered multiple blood clots in his lungs.
NFL Network's Ian Rapaport has reported that the treatment process will take at least three months, which would sideline the signal caller for the rest of the year.
The Eagles released a joint statement with Hurts' agent, Nicole Lynn, laying out the details of the quarterback's diagnosis and the process of recovery.
Hurts has been diagnosed with a deep vein thrombosis as well as bilateral pulmonary emboli, which involve multiple blood clots in the lungs.
"Jalen was initially diagnosed by specialists in London with a left calf superficial vein thrombosis.
After further testing and monitoring, the current diagnosis is a deep vein thrombosis, as well as bilateral pulmonary emboli," the statement read.
"He is clinically stable and has no significant functional limitations.
His treatment should only involve anticoagulation (i.e.
"blood thinners").
During this time, he will not be allowed to participate in any contact activities, including football.
"Jalen’s prognosis is very good, and we expect a full recovery.
We anticipate that he will have the opportunity to resume contact football activities when off the blood thinners."
