Sparks star Cameron Brink helped off the court after brutal collision with Breanna Stewart

Los Angeles Sparks star Cameron Brink was helped off the court Thursday night in an 85-81 loss to the New York Liberty .

With New York leading 69-62 midway through the fourth quarter, Brink collided with Liberty forward Breanna Stewart as Stewart's arm made contact with Brink's midsection.

Brink then collapsed to the floor and grabbed her abdomen as she appeared to cry out in pain and remained in a crouched position for several minutes following the incident.

Brink is no stranger to the injury bug, as this is just the latest in a series of knocks the Sparks center has taken recently.

Back in June, Brink sprained her ankle in a game against the Golden State Valkyries , which caused her to miss a month of play before returning in mid July.

Her rookie season was plagued with similarly bad injury luck, as the former No.

2 overall pick tore her ACL in 2024 after starting just 15 games for Los Angeles, requiring season-ending surgery.

DOWNLOAD THE TLIF PODCAST NOW! That ACL injury could have led to a sluggish 2025 season for Brink, in which the Sparks center averaged around five points and four rebounds while playing only 13 minutes a night.

The Sparks can't afford another long-term injury to a player they tapped as a franchise cornerstone just two seasons ago, and with the loss to the Liberty on Thursday night, Los Angeles dropped to 12-21 on the season.

A healthy Brink would be a key piece in helping right the ship in Southern California, but with the Sparks seven games out of a playoff spot and just over a month left to go in the regular season, it might be wise to shut her down to have her healthy for next season.
