The 10 British universities with the most American students, ranked
Scottish universities, like the University of Edinburgh, pictured here, are popular with American students.

Americans can't get enough of Scotland, with the University of St.
Andrews dominating the ranking.
England's most prestigious and historic universities are also popular among Americans.
Some American students are swapping Greek life and GPAs for cobblestone campuses and a degree across the pond.
Awareness of the British university route is steadily rising, said Meredith Guthrie, lead consultant at Meritage Advisors, a consultancy that provides UK university admissions guidance for prospective American students.
"The application process for UK universities is seen as refreshingly transparent compared to the pressure cooker students go through for US colleges," Guthrie told Business Insider.
College admissions in the UK are more interested in academic aptitude than in your personal journey or extracurriculars.
The courses are also subject-specific, and many of them can be completed in three years, she added.
The following ranking — which spotlights British schools with the most American students — has been compiled from data published by the UK Higher Education Statistics Agency .
The data covers the 2024-25 academic year, across all levels of full-time study.
It accounts for students with a permanent address in the US, rather than those with an American nationality.
It also accounts for all higher education providers, not just universities.
