I’m David Frum, a staff writer at The Atlantic.

My guest this week will be Dana Nessel, attorney general of the state of Michigan, and this week’s book will be the newly released biography American Scoundrel , a biography of Roy Cohn and his lifetime from Joe McCarthy to Donald Trump.

Before either the dialogue with Attorney General Nessel or the book, I want to open with some thoughts about the recent blowup in trade negotiations between the United States and Canada.

Now, it’s the Trump administration, though, so those negotiations are blown up as I record on Monday, August 24th.

They may be back on by the time you watch on Wednesday, August 26th.

Anything can happen with this crazy crew.

But let’s assume, as I record, that the negotiations remain blown up for some time.
