Just Jokes has one last laugh with Yasseen Barnes' additional Cape show date

One Last Laugh: Yaseen Barnes Announces Third and Final Matinee Show for Three-Day Comedy Run.

Yaseen Barnes has added a third new matinee performance to his Just Jokes comedy tour at the Homecoming Centre in District Six this Sunday, September 30. He is set to enjoy the three-day live comedy bender in Cape Town.

A matinee is a daytime or afternoon performance, offering audiences an earlier and relaxed alternative to a traditional evening of live comedy.

The audience is warned their stomach muscles will get a proper workout in the heart of the Mother City, with a set that is set to room for little else besides aching guts, lots of laughter, and lost breath from Just Jokes.

The comedian takes a playful look at everyday life in this new stand-up hour, blending observation with personal moments. His delivery mimics a casual chat with a funny friend, all building on his theory that "South Africans are just the funniest people on Earth".

Having previously won the South African Comic's Choice Award for Best Newcomer, Barnes is now taking a full hour to himself to prove that laughter deserves a proper place in a chaotic world.

Picking a favourite from his packed notebook of material is nearly impossible, he says. "There are too many jokes in the show to have a favourite," Barnes told IOL . "It is like having a favourite child: you do like some more than others, though."

Playing in front of your home crowd is a challenge for any performer, but Barnes thrives on Cape Town's local energy. "Performing in Cape Town is the best. They are my favourite audiences. Watching them laugh with their whole bodies is so humbling, and getting to see it live three times in a row; that's the real blessing," he said.

The verdict on the upcoming live, in-person sitcom is straightforward. "If you want a lekker warm treat to month-end, this show is for you," he said.

Audiences can find him on August 28 to 30 at the Homecoming Centre, District Six.

Tickets for the third and final, newly-added matinee performance, which takes place at 4pm this Sunday, are now on sale via Webtickets . IOL
