The Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein is expected to hear an appeal against the North Gauteng High Court judgment on the social relief of distress grant on Tuesday.

Last year the high court found that key aspects of the grant system were unlawfully designed in ways that excluded millions of otherwise eligible applicants.
