Sibiya bail judgement postponed to next week

The Randburg Magistrate’s Court, north of Johannesburg, has postponed former Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya’s matter to next Tuesday for bail judgment.

Sibiya, who has applied for bail, faces multiple charges, including human trafficking, the alleged sexual grooming of a 16-year-old girl and the rape of an 18-year-old woman.

The state says, “Our view is there’s no bail condition that can prevent somebody from carrying out his mission, especially if one has already made his threats.

And we have a lot of people where people would go out and engage, commit offences against the very same people who open cases; by the time the state reacts by canceling the bail, the damage is already done.

A life is lost; someone is injured.

So, the issue of bail conditions when it comes to issues of this nature.

Where there’s explicit evidence that threats were made.

Your Worship, if anything happens to those witnesses, having granted bail in light of all the red flags.” Video | EXPLICIT CONTENT | Lt-Gen Shadrack Sibiya back in court – 15 October 2026
