Mpumalanga launches project aimed at assisting emerging farmers
Mpumalanga Agriculture MEC Khethiwe Moeketsi says the provincial government is creating opportunities for emerging farmers to grow their businesses .
Moeketsi was speaking in Kwaggafontein, where she unveiled a project dubbed Eggsellent.
It is aimed at supporting local agricultural entrepreneurship.
Moeketsi says the department wants to ensure that small-scale farmers have the support they need to move from operating a business to growing sustainable agricultural enterprises.
“We have different programmes in the department that give an opportunity to that farmer who is sitting there and saying I don’t see myself growing this business.
Last month we advertised CASP, it assists you to grow your business in terms of having your infrastructure in your farm and also other funds.
We also give mentorship and skills training.” -Report by Nonhlanhla Ntshingila
