Free State records two new foot-and-mouth disease cases
The Department of Agriculture has confirmed two new cases of foot-and-mouth disease in the Heilbron and Bloemfontein areas.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the Free State to 772.
Spokesperson Moliehi Moeng says that of the confirmed cases, 577 have been successfully resolved, with the affected properties meeting all the prescribed requirements for the lifting of quarantine measures. 195 cases remain active.
To date, FMD cases have been confirmed in 19 Free State municipalities, including Kroonstad, Welkom, Sasolburg and Frankfort.
