Ramaphosa praises his peers for implementing adopted decisions
News SADC Chairperson President Cyril Ramaphosa has implored his regional peers to fully implement a raft of decisions adopted at their previous meetings.
He was speaking after assuming the chairmanship of the regional body at its 46th summit under way in eThekwini.
The SADC Heads of State and Government meeting is attended by among others, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Botswana’s Duma Boko and King Mswati III of Eswatini as well diplomats from the body’s 16 member states.
Ramaphosa says the idea and wish of regional integration must be put into reality.
“Let this Summit be remembered not merely for the declarations we adopt, but for the decisions we implement.
Let eThekwini, the city in which the African Union was launched, become the place where SADC renewed its determination to build a truly integrated regional economy.
Let us turn our borders into bridges.
Let us turn our resources into industries.
Let us turn our youthful population into a powerful demographic dividend.
Let us turn our solidarity into shared prosperity.
Let this Summit inspire a new era of regional integration that delivers dignity, opportunity and hope to every citizen of Southern Africa.” Video: 46th SADC Summit | Leaders meet to discuss regional integration and development
