The State has called its next witness in the murder trial of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and businessman Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane at the High Court in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
The witness is a retired Tactical Response Task Team officer who arrested accused number three, Siyanda Eddie Myeza, in Umlazi, in February 2023.
AKA-TIBZ MURDER | The Durban High Court is hearing an application for a separation of trials in the matter of seven men accused of killing rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and businessman Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane. https://t.co/JOt4uYo2ra — SABC News (@SABCNews) October 6, 2026 The State alleges Myeza had a firearm when he was arrested.
The gun is one of two firearms allegedly used in the killings of Forbes and Motsoane.
Ballistic evidence has also allegedly linked the firearm to the 2022 murder of taxi boss, Gift Khanyile.
The officer told the court that he personally searched Myeza and recovered the weapon, which had its serial number removed.
He also identified Myeza as the man he arrested.
The witness further confirmed that Myeza was injured at the time of his arrest, corroborating earlier testimony presented in court.
Advocate Simphiwe Mlotshwa, representing Myeza, has challenged a witness’s account of the circumstances surrounding the arrest.
Mlotshwa told the court that Myeza was arrested at a tavern, not at a house as witnesses previously claimed.
