Man nabbed for girlfriend’s murder in Klerksdorp
A 27-year-old man has been arrested in Klerksdorp, North West, in connection with the alleged killing of his 37-year-old girlfriend.
It is not yet clear when the killing took place.
But within hours of police releasing the suspect’s details, residents of Joubertina recognised him and alerted officers to his whereabouts.
National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says, “The suspect has since been arrested and will be transported back to Johannesburg, where he will face the full might of the law for the murder of his girlfriend.” Mathe says Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane welcomed the swift response from the community and the media, adding that the arrest demonstrates the power of a united society working alongside the police.
“The Acting National Commissioner has further urged communities to continue speaking up and providing information to the police whenever they recognise wanted suspects,” Mathe adds.
