Hill-Lewis says DA aiming for outright majority in Cape Town

SABC News Politics ·

Democratic Alliance (DA ) Leader and Cape Town Mayoral candidate Geordin Hill-Lewis says the party is aiming to retain its outright majority in the City of Cape Town in the upcoming local government elections.

Hill-Lewis was responding to a recent Ipsos survey that suggested a decline in support for the DA in the metro.

The survey found the party’s support standing at 46%, down from more than 60% in the previous local government elections.

However, Hill-Lewis is upbeat about the DA’s success with no colaition government.

“The intention is to win with the outright majority. But the polls are close.

Yesterday’s one was forty…fifty two percent.” “The other one was forty seven or forty eight I think. So you can see that it is close.

This is why we must call to every DA voter, every DA supporter if you are thinking about voting the DA , come out and back the DA on the fourth of novemebr.

Do’nt go for those smaller parties who want to throw Cape Town to a coalition of chaos.

Let’s get behind the DA so that we can take the city forward.”
