Bok fever hits Cape Town as 62,000 fans head to DHL Stadium for All Blacks Test

Springbok supporters are expected to pack DHL Stadium in Cape Town for Saturday’s Test against the All Blacks.

A sea of green and gold is set to sweep through the streets of Cape Town as thousands of Springbok supporters descend on the city for the showdown with the All Blacks.

On Saturday, about 62,000 people are expected inside the sold-out DHL Stadium, while thousands more will gather at venues across the city to watch one of rugby's biggest rivalries.

For Cape Town residents who are not heading to the match, the Test will still be difficult to ignore.

Road restrictions around Green Point and the stadium began from 6am, with heavy traffic expected as supporters start making their way into the city ahead of the 5.10pm kick-off.

The stadium gates open at noon, giving fans more than five hours to soak up the gees before the Boks run out onto the field.

MyCiTi shuttles will operate from the Civic Centre, Thibault Square, CTICC, UCT and Bellville Velodrome, with additional train services planned to help move supporters into the city.

For fans who did not manage to get their hands on a ticket, there will be plenty of places to share in the Bok gees.

According to CapeTowner , Mojo Market in Sea Point will be screening the test, while supporters can head to the Unplugged Fan Park at Century City Square or Foresters Arms in Newlands to watch the game.

On the field, the Springboks go into the match looking to make up for their 33-16 defeat to the All Blacks at Ellis Park.

There has also been a late change to coach Rassie Erasmus' plans after Handre Pollard was ruled out with a calf injury.

Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu moves back into the No 10 jersey, Manie Libbok comes onto the bench, while Cheslin Kolbe returns on the wing after recovering from a knock.

The match is the second of four Tests between the sides, and another loss would leave the Springboks 2 - 0 down in the series.

Supporters have been urged to arrive early and to make use of public transport where possible.
