Mpofu argues impeachment court decision an easy appeal
Lawyer representing the uMkhonto weSizwe (MKP) Party, Dali Mpofu has argued that the request made by the party before the Western Cape High Court is the easiest appeal, as it meets the requirements of the interests of justice and the separation of powers.
Both the MKP and the United Africans Transformation (UAT) party are back at the Western Cape High court seeking leave to appeal its earlier judgment that halted the hearings of the Impeachment Committee.
Last month, the Western Cape High Court granted President Cyril Ramaphosa an interdict to halt the impeachment proceedings against him, pending the review application of the Section 89 Independent Panel report scheduled to be heard in September.
