Matlala to apply for bail in his fraud case over Pretoria lease

Alleged underworld figure Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala is expected to apply for bail in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court in a fraud case involving the alleged use of fraudulent documents to secure properties across Gauteng.

His three co-accused, including his wife Tsakane Matlala, were granted bail of R20.000 each last month.

The four face charges linked to an alleged scheme involving a lease agreement worth R95.000 a month.

Matlala, his wife Tsakane, Claudette Masethe, and Given Makofane face fraud and forgery charges linked to the alleged use of fraudulent documents to secure properties.

The State alleges that Matlala posed as a member of the Eswatini royal family, using the name Vusimuzi Dlamini, and allegedly obtained an Eswatini identity document fraudulently.

He faces an additional charge of contravening the Identification Act.

His bail application is expected to be heard in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and Thursday. -Reporting by Siphiwe Mkhize VIDEO | Matlala appear in court for fraud and corruption charges:
