WATCH | Madlanga Commission to play Adams’ recording of his meeting with IDAC

Madlanga Commission is expected to play a recording of the suspended MP Fadiel Adams’ meeting with the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) officials on Friday.

The commission adjourned Adams’ cross-examination on Thursday to allow him to listen to a two-hour recording of his January 2025 meeting with IDAC officials.

The recording was made by IDAC Advocate Drushantha Ramsamy, who later submitted it to the commission after Adams challenged her evidence about discrepancies in his reports.

Adams previously told the commission that, after becoming concerned that his criminal cases were being intercepted, he requested assistance from the Ministry of Police in November 2024.

But evidence leader Advocate Lee Seegels-Ncube confronted him with a different version of events.

Adams said he searched for IDAC online and contacted the organisation himself.

Seegels-Ncube also pointed to Adams’ evidence before Parliament’s ad hoc committee in March, where the late General Andre Lincoln was identified as the person who gave him IDAC’s contact number.

Adams said the number provided by Lincoln did not work and that he subsequently Googled IDAC.

“I didn't know who IDAC was; I never heard of them… General Lincoln did give me the number. It didn't work; it went straight dead, then I googled it,” he said.

Ramsamy has also proposed that Adams be charged with his alleged possession of classified documents.

The recording could now provide the commission with a clearer account of what happened.
