Ditsobotla municipality is improving basic service delivery: Hlabisa

Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister, Velenkosini Hlabisa, says the Ditsobotla Local Municipality in Lichtenburg in the North West is continuing to improve its delivery of basic services.

Residents previously complained that national government intervention in the running of the municipality was not yielding any positive results.

They are still struggling with persistent water and electricity challenges.

Hlabisa is on a follow-up visit to the municipality to assess progress in its delivery of basic services.

“As I have indicated, the municipality has been struggling over a longer period, and when a municipality is financially strapped, as this municipality is when it comes to the finances, it cannot provide services as much as it wants or as much as a community requires,” adds Hlabisa.
