Two arrested with R2mln illicit cigarettes at Groblersbrug Port
Police in Limpopo have intercepted a truck carrying illicit cigarette s with an estimated value of R2 million.
The bust took place at the Groblersbrug Port of Entry.
Provincial Police Commissioner Jan Scheepers says, “At Groblersbridge today we confiscated 4800 cartons of cigarettes to the value of almost R2 million.
There was a truck, it’s this trucks that normally conveys the coal.
We got information from the community and stopped the truck.
We inspected the truck, the cigarettes were underneath the coal.
We arrested two Zimbabwean nationals that were trying to bring those cigarettes into the country.” This comes just hours after local police, in a multi-disciplinary operation, discovered a drug manufacturing lab in Musina.
Police seized drugs and lab equipment with an estimated street value of R600 million, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash.
Five suspects were arrested during that operation.
