Five Limpopo officers accused of corruption granted R1 000 bail each
Five police officers accused of corruption and defeating the ends of justice have been granted a R1 000 bail each by the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo.
The officers, stationed at the Polokwane International Airport , allegedly assisted undocumented immigrants to evade arrest in April last year.
The accused are Emmanuel Manamela, Joyce Matlala, Johannes Thole, Kwena Mothiba and Benjamin Choeke.
Three were arrested on Monday evening and two handed themselves over Tuesday morning.
Magistrate Rodgers Machovani has postponed the matter to next week Friday.
“All of you are still in custody, however as I indicated your bail is R1 000 each with normal bail conditions.
During your release on bail, do not interfere with the investigations, do not interfere with the witnesses and that you must always attend to this court at all material times, failure to adhere to one or more of these conditions your bail will be cancelled.”
