Mpumalanga probes alleged assault of truck driver by traffic officers

The Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison in Mpumalanga has launched an investigation into the alleged assault of a truck driver by traffic officers.

This follows a viral social media video clip showing several traffic officers attacking the truck driver.

The incident reportedly occurred on the N4 toll road near Komatipoort.

The department’s spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi, condemned the incident, saying, “We have noted with great disappointment the video that is circulating on social media where our traffic officers were filmed assaulting a truck driver.

We condemn the incident in as strong as possible terms.

However, as a department, we have already instituted an investigation to gather all the facts, and we will definitely take the necessary steps.”
