Mashatile says recovery is progressing well after minor procedure
Deputy President Paul Mashatile says his recovery is progressing well after a minor medical procedure, adding that he is regaining strength and will continue resting on his doctors’ advice.
Deputy President Paul Mashatile says he is making good progress in his recovery after undergoing a minor medical procedure, but will continue resting on the advice of his doctors.
Mashatile provided the update on Tuesday, saying he was regaining strength each day as he continues to recover.
The update comes after he recently underwent the procedure and temporarily stepped back from his normal duties while recuperating.
His acting spokesperson, Keith Khoza, said at the time that Mashatile remained in contact with his office and that his programme and official responsibilities continued to be managed during his recovery.
Mashatile said his doctors had advised him to continue resting while he recovered.
“On the advice of my doctors, I will continue resting until advised otherwise while work and delegated responsibilities continue to be underway in the capable team in my office with other stakeholders in government, business and other sectors,” he said.
He thanked his family and the medical team caring for him, as well as members of his office and colleagues in government and the ANC.
Mashatile also thanked President Cyril Ramaphosa and South Africans who had sent messages of support during his recovery.
“Your prayers and encouragement have been a source of strength,” he added.
Despite continuing his recovery, Mashatile said he remained committed to the responsibilities entrusted to him and intended to return to his duties once he was able to do so.
“Let us continue working together for the progress of our country. I assure you that I remain dedicated to the responsibilities entrusted to me, and I look forward to returning to my duties in full, serving our nation with renewed energy and commitment,” Mashatile said.
