Parties bemoan poor service delivery in Mangaung
Leaders from various political parties and independent candidates in Mangaung in the Free State have bemoaned the poor service delivery in the metro.
A struggling economy, crime, potholes as well as the formalisation of informal settlements and the provision of houses have been highlighted among the challenges in the metro.
Various parties were part of a panel discussion hosted by the Lesedi FM current affairs team.
This is in preparation of the local government elections taking place on the 4th of November.
Benjamin Leve from the Active African Christian United Movement highlighted the issue of substance abuse, saying there is lack of action to eradicate the scourge.
“We are contesting these elections for the first time.
We are saying there are citizens of Mangaung Church is a solution is not a problem, as we are creating it to be churches.
A solution where we have a lot of things that church can do and partner with the government.
So, we are here at representing church.
We’re representing our committees – we are bringing godly governance.” During election campaigning last month, independent candidates in Mangaung urged voters to prioritise their communities over party-driven politics.
Rather than relying on promises, independent candidates said they want to be councillors who account for their performance.
