IFP says arrival of new members is a vote of confidence in the party
Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) President Velenkosini Hlabisa says the arrival of over 200 new members demonstrates growing confidence in the party ahead of the Local Government Elections .
The new members, who joined the party on Saturday following their defection from the National Freedom Party (NFP), include prominent NFP leaders.
Among them are the sitting mayor of the eDumbe Local Municipality and NFP National Chairperson, Sbusiso Mkhabela, as well as NFP Secretary-General Teddy Thwala.
Hlabisa and other IFP senior leaders welcomed the new members at a media briefing in Durban.
“We welcome you as you come at the right time to strengthen the IFP, as we are going to embark on an aggressive and massive election campaign to win many municipalities in this province of KwaZulu-Natal, but also expand our footprint to all provinces of South Africa,” said Hlabisa. -Report by Samke Mtshali
