Shebe Maburna’s bail hearing underway in Polokwane

Shebe Maburna’s bail hearing underway in Polokwane

The bail hearing of Lekompo musician Lehlohonolo Chauke, popularly known as Shebe Maburna , is underway at the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court in Limpopo.

Shebe Maburna has approached the court again in a bid to secure bail after being denied on four occasions.

His defense team has brought an application on new facts.

His lawyer, Advocate Mutheiwana Sikhwari, has told the court that denying Shebe Maburna bail is a violation of his constitutional rights.

Advocate Sikhwari told the magistrate’s court that his client must be released on bail, as 12 additional charges did not form part of the initial bail applications.

“Ten additional charges which were added earlier on 15 May 2026; it now means the charges for which I was never given the Audi alteram partem hearing are now starting at a staggering figure of 12 plus two alternative charges.

This kind of injustice and clear violation of my rights cannot be allowed to prevail and persist.” Shebe Maburna back in court – 08 October 2026: Reporting: Avhapfani Munyai
