Coalition govts constrain effective service delivery: Ramaphosa
ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa says coalition governments are constraining effective service delivery in municipalities.
He says this limits the ability of mayors and municipal committees to carry out their responsibilities.
Ramaphosa was speaking during the ANC’s campaign trail in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, ahead of the upcoming local government elections.
He says he hopes the November 4th elections will give parties a clear majority to govern municipalities effectively.
“Now, I’m hoping that in these elections, we will be able to have an outcome that gives outright support to parties that will be able to run municipalities effectively so that we don’t constrain and tie the hands of our municipal governance system.
Our people are crying out for good governance.
And politics tends to hold us back through coalition governments, which you in the media seem to love so much,” says Ramaphosa.
