Lawyer accused in estate fraud tried to stop investigations: Witness
The Polokwane Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo has heard that accused number one in the case of a couple accused of defrauding deceased estate s allegedly tried to interfere with investigations after learning she was being investigated for fraud.
State witness, Constable Thobejane took the stand to oppose the bail application by Charlotte Tibana and TMPD officer, Peter Nonyane .
The couple allegedly defrauded three estate accounts of more than R4 million between 2024 and 2026.
They are further accused of attempting to buy a luxury vehicle worth R1.7 million by pretending to be beneficiaries of one of the estates.
Thobejane says Tibana called his commander and asked him to close the case.
“Accused number one after she learned that there’s a case against her, she called my commander, which by then he was Lieutenant-Colonel Makoa requesting to have a meeting with him.” Social media influencer and event organiser Peter Nonyane, popularly known as Gagash, and his wife, Charlotte Tibana, are appearing before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo on two counts of fraud and two counts of money laundering charges.
